The concert in Athens 25/9/2004

We really had a chance to "Shake it" big time on Saturday!

Sakis was in a very good mood and a real teaser! I bet lots of girls left the concert in wet pants that night ;-)

I also took some photos but haven't had them developed yet. If they're any good I'll post them shortly.

Here is a list of the songs he performed in no particular order (please correct me if I have missed a few, I didn't take notes, I was SO high, if you know what I mean...):

Sakis' songs

  • Shake it (twice)
  • Andexa
  • Ola kala (in greek)
  • Thelo na koitao
  • Ksana
  • Ela mou
  • Disco girl (in greek)
  • To hrono stamatao
  • To koritsi ekeino
  • Oso zo
  • Se thelo san trellos
  • Se kathe anapnoi
  • Pes tis
  • Kanoume oneira
  • Theleis i de theleis
  • Den ehei sidera i kardia sou
  • Sypmlegma oidipodeio

International songs

  • We will rock you -(Queen)
  • Blue suede shoes -(Elvis Presley)
  • Tutti frutti -(Little Richard)
  • We are the champions -(Queen)

  • Esorouha -(Nikos Karvelas)
  • Kalokairines diakopes -(Nikos Karvelas)
  • Apopse leo na min koimithoume -(Pantelis Thalassinos)

As we entered the open theatre we were given red Vodaphone hats with Sakis' name embroidered on the side. I wore mine throughout, as did most of the audience. The concert opened with a couple of songs from Stavros – the winner of last year's "Super idol" contest.

Then Sakis came on and we began flaming! At some point he introduced us to his friend Philip Kirkorov, a russian singer who was among the audience. Sakis kept sighing all the time between songs and making various comments, driving us more delirious. In front of the stage there was a barrier which prevented crazed girls from climbing up (An unavoidable measure, I think. In the Corfu concert in August more than 10 girls managed to climb on stage, causing big trouble to the security men who tried to get them down while they grabbed Sakis and tried to hold on. One of them nearly strangled him as she grabbed him by the neck and he was forced to stop singing until the security managed to pull her hands off him.) Prevented from coming in physical contact with him, the girls started throwing things to him, like jackets, hats, etc. He picked one of the jackets up and threw it back saying "You'd better wear this or you'll catch a cold". Twice he tore apart the t-shirt he was wearing and threw it to them.

When he started singing a song about sexy black underwear he took a look inside his black leather pants and commented "What, are you hot already?", he continued with the song, slapping his bottom twice and causing mass hysteria! When he sang "Ela mou" at the line saying "I'll massage your legs if they hurt" he turned his back to us, he leaned over and stroked the whole lenght of his thigh - we were delirious! (wow, I'm getting hot just thinking of it!)

I don't recall more details at the moment but I think you get the picture...

After the end of the concert he went to a bar with his friends (and we went for a cold shower...)

The concert was amazing. The opening of the concert was done by the winner of the Greek POP IDOL, (I can’t remember his name). Sakis danced for two whole hours and when it was over it was too soon. The great thing about this concert was that he sang songs that weren’t really his own. He said some Elvis songs, he dedicated the "We are the champions" song to Greek athletes and he sang certain older Greek hits. The man can sing!!! The one song that made the fans wild was Sakis` older hit "Ela mou". He sang "Shake it" twice and of course when he sang "To hrono stamatao" he picked a girl from the audience to accompany him. When he sang "Thelo na koitao" the dancers were all over him, literally!

To the lucky few who were there 2 hours before 21:00, Vodafone offered a souvenir hat with Sakis autograph stamped on them. The tickets were all sold out 2 days before the show. The fans started gathering 3 hours in advance in front of the locked gates. I, myself, was there 2 hours in advance and I wasn’t even one of the first ones in! Among the many that attended the event was a famous pop star of Russia, Vicky Koulianou model/actress, Katia Zigouri Sakis` girlfriend and his friend and manager Ilias Psinakis. (By the way rumours about Psinakis resignation are totally unfunded. He said so himself). The show was recorded by a Greek channel and will be broadcasted at some point soon.

There is only one thing left to be said. You MUST see him perform!
